Rakesh Agiwal joined Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta Ltd., in September 2004 and currently serves as the Chief Strategy & Planning Officer. He plays a pivotal role in driving company’s long-term vision , strategic initiatives, and operational planning. Over his 22-year tenure at Cairn, Rakesh has held multiple leadership roles across Finance, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial and Strategy, contributing significantly to the company’s growth and operational excellence.

With more than 31 years of industry experience, Rakesh brings deep expertise in financial governance, regulatory engagement, and strategic planning. Prior to Cairn, he worked with leading organizations including BPL Soft Energy, Coca-Cola, Ralliwolf Limited and Fort Gloster Cable, gaining diverse exposure across sectors.

At Cairn, Rakesh has been instrumental in defining robust financial processes and controls, partnering with business units to drive operational decisions, and fostering strong relationships with regulators, service providers, and the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). His hands-on experience spans financial system improvements, commercial capability building, and advanced business analytics, enabling Cairn to maintain industry-leading standards in efficiency and compliance.
