Continuous technical capability development of our talent is an imperative and remains a top priority across the organization. Our time to autonomy is one of the best in-class. We have invested 4968 man-days and 39741 Hours of technical training in 2016-17 through a combination of in-house training and external programs. We have strong partnerships with industry leaders such as SPE, IHRDC, Baker Huges, Halliburton that help us fulfil our commitment for superior technical capability building. We have also institutionalized a culture of shared learning where different internal subject matter experts share their learnings with other employees. These forums not help spread the knowledge but also serve as a platform for challenge and debate around new ideas and technologies which helps enhance the business efficiency.
We support continuing education to develop technical competency in the organization. Cairn’s Education Assistance Program has helped many employees to pursue higher education at some of the most reputed universities in the world and return to Cairn with enriched knowledge. The Cairn Technical Forum is an internal platform for engineers to showcase and share their innovative contributions. This is also a stepping stone for them to reach out to a larger audience outside Cairn and present papers in national and international forums. Till date more than 70 such papers have been presented in external forums.
While formal training plays a key role, informal learning through mentoring is a key differentiator at Cairn. The presence of a large number of senior technical experts with a penchant for grooming talent truly contributes to this culture of development and growth. This has enabled core technical talent to grow their career and develop themselves along a technical pathway.
