Sudhir Mathur Chief Executive Officer
As the current Chief Executive Officer of Cairn Oil & Gas – Vedanta Limited, Sudhir Mathur has been instrumental in defining the organisation’s strategy and its growth story.
Sudhir brings to Cairn more than 32 years of rich expertise and experience in finance and strategic planning, supply chain management, as well as regulatory affairs. He has a proven track record in deploying large capital to enable value creation for companies, and is leading the effort to increase Cairn’s contribution to India’s domestic oil and gas production to 50 percent.
Prior to joining Cairn in September 2012, Sudhir was CFO and Head of the Netco Business for Aircel Cellular Limited. He has formerly held leadership positions of increasing responsibility at Delhi International Airport Limited, Idea Cellular, Ballarpur Industries Limited and Price Waterhouse Coopers, India.
Sudhir is an Economics graduate from SRCC, Delhi University, and has earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration from Cornell University, New York. He lives in Delhi with his family and enjoys cricket and reading books. He is also an avid basketball enthusiast and a former player.
Pankaj Kalra Chief Financial Officer
Pankaj Kalra has been with Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta Limited since 2014. Pankaj brings to his role more than 21 years of experience across key verticals in finance and strategic planning.
As CFO for the oil and gas business, he has been instrumental in enabling business growth through his focus on fiscal discipline and strategic finance planning initiatives. In addition to leading the finance function, the procurement and supply function, and information technology function, he has been adding significant value as the head of Group Investments, anchoring the group-wide spend base and commercial function, and championing digitalization initiatives. Some of his key achievements include generating higher free cash flows through working capital unlocking. He has been instrumental in driving the transformational integrated-partnership contract approach with global oilfield service players, to implement key growth projects. This framework has been appreciated across the industry.
Before joining the Vedanta Group, Pankaj was business CFO and Executive Vice President for Reliance Infocomm Limited, where he was responsible for finance, strategy, M&A and regulatory affairs. He has formerly held senior leadership positions at various multinationals including Idea Cellular, American Towers Corporation, Ernst and Young, and Sprint R&G.
Pankaj earned his bachelor’s degree in commerce from the Shri Ram College of Commerce, is a chartered accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and a certified company secretary from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
Pankaj lives in Gurugram with his wife and six year old son. Off work, Pankaj enjoys traveling to offbeat destinations.
Sai Subramanian President, Rajasthan Operations
Sai Subramanian has been with Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta Limited for more than 16 years. He currently leads oil and gas operations in Rajasthan and is the President of the Rajasthan Asset.
Having an experience of more than 24 years in the oil and gas, and chemical industry, Sai has held various positions at Cairn and has played a pivotal role in managing offshore operations, marine and aviation operations, and JV management.
Sai has been instrumental in running the Mangala start-up operations, and the production ramp-up at Mangala Processing Terminal. He has also carried out technology driven initiatives for optimising production.
Sai is a chemical engineer from BITS, Pilani. He is a fitness enthusiast and loves to take part in marathons. He also likes to solve Sudoku puzzles.
Nitin Banerjee General Counsel
As the General Counsel, Nitin Banerjee drives the vision and charter for the legal and compliance function at Cairn, and is also an integral member of the Vedanta’s Group Legal Council.
Nitin is an international corporate commercial lawyer, qualified both in India and the UK. He has both, private practice and in-house experience in a number of senior legal leadership and country general counsel roles, with expertise in energy and infrastructure projects, M&A (including farm-in and upstream oil and gas developments), litigation and arbitration management, governance, joint venture management, compliance, regulatory and policy advocacy, and corporate commercial matters. Nitin has significant experience of providing robust legal advice across the entire oil and gas chain, i.e., upstream, midstream and downstream.
Prior to joining Cairn in November 2017, Nitin has worked with Vodafone and BG Group Plc, and also has significant private practice experience at law firms like Trilegal, JSA, and big four accounting firm, PwC. Nitin brings in more than 20 years of experience in providing strategic legal advice, transactional and litigation experience.
Madhu Srivastava Head – HR & Admin
Madhu Srivastava has been part of Cairn Oil & Gas for six years now. She brings to the organization 19 years of rich and diverse work experience across HR, sales, and operations functions.
Besides her role as CHRO, Madhu leads talent acquisition, and diversity and inclusion (D&I) for the Vedanta Group, and is a member of the Chairman’s Committee, the Group HR Council, and the Group Ethics Committee. Some of her key accomplishments at Vedanta and Cairn include revamping the recruitment engine to bring on board top quality leadership talent from global companies, as well as hiring best-in-class entry-level talent from premier Indian universities.
She has been instrumental in launching Vedanta’s flagship talent development programs, namely, the Global Internship Program (GIP) and Vedanta Leadership Development Program (VLDP), where entry level talent is hired from top Indian and global engineering and MBA colleges. She is also responsible for leadership and development, driving use of e-learning platforms and in-house programs like Leaders Teach, and employer branding through innovative initiatives like talent roadshows and market mapping. Madhu has also successfully leveraged LinkedIn and other social media platforms for recruitment.
As part of the Group HR Council, Madhu has played a key role in launching progressive and globally benchmarked people practice, including enhanced parental leave policy, standardization of benefits such as leave, which have been received very well by employees.
Prior to joining Cairn in 2012, she has held several roles of increasing responsibility at Citibank, Genpact, Reliance Industries, and Godrej. Madhu completed her MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad. She is a fitness enthusiast and loves participating in half marathons.
